Job summary

Gentiva seeks a compassionate Hospice Aide to provide direct personal care and emotional support to patients wherever they call home—private residence, assisted living, or inpatient unit.

You will perform essential caregiving tasks, observe changes, document visits, and collaborate with the care team. An active CNA license, CPR, a reliable vehicle, and 6 months of direct patient care are required; willingness to work independently in home settings is essential.

Qualifications

• Active CNA license in the state of employment.
• Current CPR certification.
• Driver’s license with a reliable vehicle and valid insurance.
• Six months of direct patient care experience.
• Comfortable working in home settings, hospice facilities, or long-term care environments.
• Demonstrated compassion, patience, and ability to handle emotional situations.
• Willingness to work independently and adapt to changing patient needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct personal care to terminally ill patients.
• Assist with personal hygiene, grooming, and toileting.
• Support safe mobility with walkers and wheelchairs.
• Help with meal preparation, feeding, and light housekeeping.
• Observe and report changes in patient condition; document visits accurately.
• Offer emotional support to patients and families.
• Attend team meetings and participate in quality improvement activities.
• Follow infection control and safety protocols at all times.
