Job summary

Compassus is seeking a compassionate Chaplain to provide spiritual support to patients and families in a hospice setting. The role includes explaining hospice benefits, collaborating with the IDT to develop care plans, and counseling families through grief and bereavement in a sensitive, non-discriminatory manner.

The Chaplain will uphold Compassus values, engage with community clergy as requested, and help ensure continuity and quality of spiritual care aligned with patient beliefs and goals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Divinity, Social Sciences, or related field preferred.
• Completion of at least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) preferred.
• Minimum of one year of experience providing spiritual/pastoral support to individuals or families.
• Experience supporting patients and families through loss, grief, or bereavement preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide spiritual support to patients and families within the hospice setting.
• Explain hospice services and Medicare benefits to patients and families and obtain consent/docs as requested.
• Collaborate with the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) to develop and implement care plans.
• Maintain up-to-date care plans reflecting problems, goals, and interventions.
• Counsel patients and families in alignment with their beliefs and in end-of-life transitions.
