Qualifications

• Meets state requirements for home health aide training and competency.
• Shows proof of registration on the Home Care Aide Registry.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care.
• Self-directing with the ability to work with little supervision.
• Empathy for the needs of the ill, frail and impaired.
• Possess and maintains CPR certification.
• Valid California Driver’s License with insured vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Assisting the patient with toileting activities.
• Planning and preparing nutritious meals.
• Assisting in feeding the patient, if necessary.
• Taking and recording oral, rectal, and axillary temperatures, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure as ordered.
• Assisting in ambulation and exercise according to the plan of care.
• Performing range of motion and other simple procedures as an extensional therapy service as ordered.
• Performing simple procedures as an extension of nursing services as ordered.
• Assisting patients in the self-administration of medication.
• Doing the patient's laundry, as appropriate.
• Meeting safety needs of patients and using equipment safely.
• Reporting on the patient's condition and significant changes to the assigned nurse.
• Adhering to documentation and care procedures and standards.
• Must adhere to attendance and reliability guidelines.
