Job summary

Nurse Next Door SAN-Mate is looking for compassionate home care aides in California to help seniors stay safely at home. Flexible part-time or full-time shifts available, with a focus on delivering high-quality nonmedical support and companionship.

Positions require CA Home Care Aide Registry registration, completion of background checks, and the ability to perform ADLs, meal prep, light housekeeping, and transportation as needed. Training provided and hours vary by schedule.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• Current registration with the State of California Home Care Aide Registry. We Provide paid training and help you with the registration process.
• Completion of a criminal background check and disclosure of any criminal history or evidence of exemption.
• Evidence of entry-level training or plan to complete paid training prior to client care and in accordance with CA regulations.
• Evidence of tuberculosis testing and verification that the home care aide does not have active tuberculosis.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care given.
• Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision.
• Empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail and the impaired.
• Demonstrates tact, patience, and good personal hygiene.
• Valid driver’s license and auto insurance and/or reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

• Execute the client’s care plan as outlined by the Care Designer.
• Help clients with their ADLs within the scope of practice for a Registered Health Care Aide.
• Assisting clients with personal hygiene such as skin, mouth, hair care, bathing and dressing.
• Assisting clients in and out of bed, transfers, positioning and assisting with ambulation.
• Assisting with prescribed exercises taught by health personnel.
• Meal planning and preparation, including therapeutic diets, and assisting with eating.
• Assisting clients to the bathroom or in using commodes, bedpans or urinals and incontinence care.
• Performing household services including housekeeping, laundry, transportation, correspondence, shopping for personal care items or groceries, and companionship.
• Assisting clients with medications reminders which are ordinarily self-administered.
• Reporting changes in the client's condition and needs to the administrator or care designer.
• Completing records regarding services performed.
• Driving to appointments or to run errands.
• Accurately records all hours worked.
• Remains alert during the shift and responds immediately to any such needs.
• Participating in all required entry-level and annual training requirements.
• Maintaining an active home care aide registration with the State of Ca. Dept. of Social Services Home Care Services Bureau.
• Other duties as assigned by the administrator or designee.
