Job summary

SCI in Santa Ana, CA is hiring a Funeral Assistant to support funeral services and assist families through arrangements. You will coordinate rites, transport, and chapel activities with compassion and professionalism, ensuring compliance with company policies and licensing requirements.

This role requires a high school diploma, at least 3 years of related experience, and a valid driver's license with a clean record.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years related experience as a Funeral Assistant.
• Current state/country driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Basic knowledge of religious and fraternal organizations customs.
• Knowledge of MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Arranges, conducts and directs bereavement rites, including funeral and memorial ceremonies in a professional, organized and caring manner consistent with Company Policies and Procedures.
• Confirms authorization to proceed with the service arrangements.
• Ensures client families are informed of special recognition/services available for veterans and ensures the delivery of selected recognition/services.
• Assists with funeral services by coordinating parking, ushering, driving funeral vehicles, assisting at chapel/church services and cemetery; handles flowers, caskets, urns and keepsakes; sets up/removes chairs.
• Provides aftercare in absence of Family Service Counselor, including delivery of documents and information on insurance/benefits; pre-arrangements for next of kin.
• Ensures pre-need referrals are shared with Family Service Counselors and adheres to licensing rules/regulations.
• Prepares and completes documents and online entries related to services, cremations, maintenance.
• Assists with general office duties including answering phones and preparing reports.
• Maintains vehicles, facility and property; receives caskets and supplies and places into inventory.
• Ensures refreshments are available where allowed by law.
