Job summary

Catholic Funeral & Cemetery Services (CFCS) is seeking a part-time Funeral Assistant at Saint Mary Cemetery & Funeral Center in Oakland, CA. The role supports Funeral Directors before, during, and after the services, greeting families and ensuring respectful, attentive family care.

The position offers an hourly wage of $19 to start, with 20 hours per week and availability for additional hours on a flexible schedule. Evening and some weekend work is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years customer service experience with the public.
• Must be at least 25 years old (Insurance purposes).
• Valid California driver’s license and proof of insurance.
• Comfortable viewing deceased persons.
• Evening and weekend availability required.
• Bilingual a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet arriving families and assist during services to ensure high family service standards.
• Assist Funeral Directors before, during, and after services and maintain service environment.
• Set up services and supplies, place signage, and keep gathering areas clean.
