Qualifications

• High School education preferred.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must read, write, speak and understand English.
• Completion of CNA training program (preferred, not required).
• Previous experience with geriatric nursing preferred.
• CPR certification.
• Basic understanding of aseptic and sterile techniques.
• Good physical and mental health; neat, clean, well groomed and responsible.
• Patience, tact, enthusiasm and positive attitude toward the elderly.
• Must have upper body strength adequate to bend, lift, shift, move, and/or assist in moving articles over 75 pounds.
• Must be able to squat, reach, and stretch without distress; tolerate extended periods of walking/standing.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily bath and/or shower and related care.
• Record vital signs, weight, and monitor residents; review care plans daily; report changes to supervisor.
• Prepare residents for meals and assist with post-meal care.
• Provide table service during meals and light housekeeping in resident apartments.
• Maintain resident confidentiality and uphold Residents’ Rights; report complaints and incidents.
• Assist with admissions, transfers and discharges; inventory resident possessions and report equipment issues.
• Attend orientation, required trainings, and staff meetings.
• Follow safety rules and infection control procedures; document and report violations.
