Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a part-time Dietary Aide to support meal setup, serving, and post-service cleaning in a Residence/Home setting. You will assist with meal prep, tray delivery, and dining room duties while upholding safety and resident rights.

Ideal candidates have a Food Handler's Certificate, customer service focus, and the ability to stand for long periods. Prior senior-care food service experience is a plus; bilingualism is an asset.

Qualifications

• Food Handler's Certificate required or in progress.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Willingness to obtain Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Comfort with lifting and long periods of standing.
• Bilingual ability is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Serve meals to residents and guests in a professional and courteous manner.
• Assist in set up and preparation for service of items such as beverages and salads.
• Set and clear dining tables and deliver tray service as required.
• Assist with cleaning of dishware and dining areas after each seating.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas as required.
• Assist with catering and participate in special events.
• Assist in orientation and training of new dietary staff.
• Follow health and safety legislation and safe job procedures.
• Comply with regulations and department policies.
• Respect Resident Rights and Responsibilities and promote them.
• Attend in-service training and staff meetings.
• Participate in Quality Improvement Program.
• Work in a position of trust with residents.
• Uphold Extendicare's Code of Conduct and values.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
