Job summary

Manor Lake Athens is looking for a compassionate Food Service Assistant to help provide meals and snacks to residents in accordance with dietary regulations. You will assist with meal distribution, tray checks, and safe handling practices while maintaining a clean, organized dining environment.

You will follow safety policies, maintain confidentiality, support residents’ rights, and report concerns promptly to the Food Service Director.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must read, write, speak and understand English.
• Patience, tact, enthusiasm and positive attitude toward the elderly.
• Must have upper body strength adequate to bend, lift, shift, move articles over 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation, service and delivery of meals and snacks.
• Know and use portion control procedures when preparing and serving meals.
• Assist in daily cleaning duties including work areas, tables, appliances and floors.
• Assist in dish and utensil washing and cleaning.
• Distribute and collect menus and check trays for accuracy of diet preferences.
• Follow Standards Precautions and sanitary, safety and infection control policies.
• Maintain residents' confidentiality and treat them with dignity and respect.
• Comply with Residents’ Rights rules.
• Report resident complaints to the Food Service Director.
• Dispose of food and waste per policies.
• Wear protective clothing when handling infectious waste or body fluids.
