Job summary

Hands of Heartland, Inc. is seeking compassionate Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to assist individuals with developmental disabilities at our Omaha day centers. This full-time role runs Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, in Omaha, NE.

You will support daily living activities, safety, documentation, transportation, and community engagement while maintaining the dignity and rights of each person served. Starting pay is $16 per hour, with higher pay for experience and CNA certification.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities and team members.
• Strong observation and problem-solving skills for day-to-day care.
• Proven time management and ability to document interactions accurately.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Commitment to confidentiality and person-centered support.
• Willingness to adapt to changes and new procedures.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with individuals with developmental disabilities to support meaningful daily living.
• Assist with activities of daily living and skill-building in community settings.
• Transport individuals to appointments and community activities.
• Administer medications and follow nurse instructions as delegated.
• Maintain accurate documentation and logs of plans, behavior data, and funds requests.
• Ensure safety, dignity, and rights of individuals at all times.
