Job summary

Hands of Heartland is seeking a Direct Support Professional to work in Council Bluffs, IA, full-time or part-time. The DSP will assist people with developmental disabilities with daily living, in both home and community settings, including meals, shopping, and chores, and may transport clients in company vehicles.

The ideal candidate demonstrates independence, teamwork, adaptability, and strong communication, with empathy and respect for those we serve.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years old or older.
• Must have a valid driver’s license, a vehicle, and auto insurance.
• Must be able to pass all background checks.
• Experience working with people with developmental disabilities is required.
• Understanding how to handle behaviors is essential.

Responsibilities

• Directly support people with developmental disabilities in day-to-day living in residential settings.
• Assist with activities in home and community settings including meal planning, grocery shopping, and household chores.
• May transport individuals in company vehicles.
