Job summary

Good Samaritan in Hutchinson, KS is seeking a Nursing Assistant (NA) to provide resident-centered care in long-term care settings. Under RN supervision, you will assist with daily living activities, monitor basic health needs, and help maintain a safe, comforting environment.

Responsibilities include assisting with bathing, dressing, feeding, taking vital signs, and supporting wellness and recreation programs.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
• Minimum of 18 years of age.
• Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of date into the position by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through Endorsement.
• Colorado: Depending on facility, Qualified Medication Administration Person (QMAP) certification with the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment required.
• Satisfactorily completes yearly department specific competency testing and maintains a record of continuing education credits for each year. A minimum of 12 hours continuing education are required annually. Maintains all department specific required certifications.
• When applicable, for applicable states, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry.

Responsibilities

• Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN).
• Knowledge of and delivers age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of the resident as per care plan.
• Assist with basic health care needs including daily living activities such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, obtaining and recording vital signs, and providing psychosocial support.
• Assist residents in transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct transfer techniques and equipment.
• Provide range of motion and passive exercises; assist with meals and dining; ensure hydration and supplements as appropriate.
• Assist providers and nursing staff with procedures as needed; document resident interactions and care outcomes.
• Communicate changes in resident condition to the charge nurse; collect non-invasive samples and vital signs.
• Provide housekeeping and laundry services; support wellness and recreational programs; participate in committees as needed.
