Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a part-time Nursing Assistant to support Med Surg at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, IL. The role involves assisting with daily patient care, documentation, and coordination of admissions and discharges under RN supervision.

Responsibilities include vital signs, specimen collection, and stock management. Candidates must have a GED/HS diploma, BLS, and Nurse Aide certification. Schedule includes two 12-hour shifts with weekends and holidays rotation.

Qualifications

• GED or High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
• Annual educational requirements for hospital certifications (e.g. DNV, CARF or others).

Responsibilities

• Assists RN with daily patient care including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding and ambulation.
• Measures and documents vital signs and inputs/outputs, charting in EMR.
• Performs purposeful rounding and communicates patient and family needs to RN.
• Participates in admission, transfer and discharge with RN supervision.
• Collects specimens and assists with point-of-care testing as indicated.
• Keeps nursing area stocked, cleans equipment and supports patient nutrition needs.
• Assists with positioning, transfers and patient safety, using proper technique.
• Follows infection prevention policies and uses PPE as required.
• Demonstrates age-appropriate care and contributes to patient care planning.
