Job summary

Good Samaritan is hiring a Nursing Assistant (NA) for Canistota, SD. You will care for residents in a long-term care setting, assisting with daily living activities under RN supervision and contributing to a safe, compassionate environment.

The role requires CNA certification or enrollment, with 12 hours of annual continuing education and compliance with infection control and PPE policies. Shifts include day/evening/night and weekends, with a $10,000 sign-on bonus.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
• Minimum age of 16. Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
• CNA certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of date into the position by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through Endorsement.
• Satisfactorily completes yearly competency testing and maintains 12 hours of continuing education annually.
• When applicable, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry.
• May classify as Sanford Category II Driver requiring a motor vehicle report and valid driver's license per Driving Policy.

Responsibilities

• The NA serves as caregiver to the resident during the scheduled work period in long term care.
• Provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under RN supervision.
• Assists with transferring, positioning, ROM, and range of motion exercises.
• Prepares meals/dining assistance and ensures positive dining experiences.
• Documents resident interactions and communicates changes to the charge nurse.
• Provides housekeeping, laundry, wellness and recreational program support.
