Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare in Fredericksburg, VA is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to join the patient care team. Under RN supervision, you will provide direct patient care and perform clerical duties to support department operations.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, data collection, preparing for tests, and responding to emergencies. A VA CNA license, BLS CPR, and at least one year of acute care experience are required (or six months if in an RN program).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• CNA license issued by the Commonwealth of VA required.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
• At least one year of acute care experience required; or six months of acute care experience if currently enrolled in a full time RN program and have completed at least one clinical semester.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients in daily living activities such as range of motion, ambulation, positioning, feeding, hygiene and linen changes.
• Collects patient data and specimens, records vital signs and communicates status to licensed professionals.
• Performs designated patient care procedures including spirometry, transport, room prep, and post mortem and discharge activities.
• Answers unit phones, enters data into EMR, and coordinates equipment and supplies; supports clerical tasks as assigned.
