Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Nurse Aide to support the Med Surg: IU Medical Unit in Burlington, WI. Three 12-hour shifts per week, 1815-0645, with rotating weekends and holiday commitments.

BLS and Nurse Aide certification required within 45 days; GED or HS diploma or equivalently high school education accepted. The role emphasizes patient care, accurate documentation in EMR, and collaboration with RNs to ensure patient comfort and safety.

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities.
• Certification Addendum required for hospital-based certifications.
• Staff must maintain annual educational requirements for hospital certifications (e.g., DNV, CARF).

Responsibilities

• Assist RN with daily patient care (bathing, feeding, positioning).
• Document vital signs and patient data in EMR.
• Perform rounding and communicate patient/family needs to RN.
• Support admission/transfer/discharge under RN supervision.
• Collect specimens and perform point-of-care testing as directed.
• Handle errands and restock nursing areas; clean equipment and areas.
• Assist with patient positioning and transport; support nutrition needs.
• Maintain skin integrity and provide needed supplies (TED hose, SCDs).
• May assist with IV removal, post-mortem care, and bladder scans as directed.
• Practice infection prevention and adhere to safety protocols.
• Adapt care to age-specific needs of patients.
