Job summary

UnityPoint Clinic in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join Merle Hay Road Family Medicine. The role supports patient care, assists with exams, treatments, and patient education in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

The CMA will work Mon-Thu, 7:30 AM–5:00 PM with full-time benefits, and may float to other UnityPoint locations as needed to support staffing. Prior clinic experience and EPIC familiarity are a plus.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assisting program (certificate, diploma, or AS) required.
• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant through one of the listed cert bodies.
• Prior outpatient clinical experience preferred.
• Familiarity with EPIC EMR a plus.
• May require float to other UnityPoint locations to support staffing.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians during patient exams and procedures.
• Room patients and record histories, vitals, and EHR documentation.
• Administer medications, immunizations, and treatments per licensure.
• Educate patients on health, medications, and follow-up care.
• Coordinate referrals and patient follow-ups.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment.
