Job summary

KU MedWest is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant (24 hours per week) to support clinic operations and patient flow. You will prepare patients for visits, assist during examinations, complete basic procedures, and help with scheduling and documentation.

The role emphasizes customer service, accurate record-keeping, and collaboration with physicians and nurses. Required education includes a High School diploma and completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or at least one year as a Medical Assistant or CCMA/NCRMA certification.

Responsibilities

• Schedules tests and prepares specimens per policy.
• Assists physicians/nurses with procedures as defined on competency checklist.
• Collaborates with health care team to coordinate patient care and record patient history elements.
• Submits prescriptions/refills to outpatient pharmacies electronically or by fax.
• Maintains medical records and ensures documentation is available and accurate.
• Maintains orderly exam rooms and stocking of supplies with par levels.
• Performs clerical duties: greeting patients, scheduling, insurance pre-certification, and charges entry.
• Performs vital signs and basic screening procedures as directed.
