Job summary

The School District of the Chathams is seeking a dedicated Paraprofessional to support students and educators in a collaborative learning environment. The role involves assisting with instructional activities, providing targeted student support, and helping maintain an organized classroom.

Ideal candidates will have at least 30 college credits, strong communication skills, and a genuine passion for helping diverse learners succeed.

Qualifications

• A minimum of thirty (30) college credits from an accredited college or university.
• Previous experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting is highly desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting student learning and development.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans and instructional activities.
• Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, ensuring they understand the material and remain engaged.
• Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to teachers and parents as needed.
• Help maintain a safe and organized classroom environment.
• Support students with special needs, including those with physical, emotional, or learning challenges.
• Assist with classroom management and discipline, promoting a respectful and inclusive atmosphere.
• Prepare instructional materials and resources as directed by the teacher.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and other staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students.
• Perform clerical tasks, such as grading papers and maintaining student records, as needed.
