Job summary

The School District of the Chathams is seeking a dedicated Paraprofessional to support students and educators within our district. The role involves assisting with instructional activities, providing one-on-one or small group support, and helping create an inclusive, positive learning environment.

Responsibilities include following lesson plans, monitoring progress, collaborating with teachers and staff, and contributing to IEP development.

Qualifications

• Minimum of thirty (30) college credits from an accredited college or university.
• Previous experience with children in an educational or childcare setting is desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships.
• Ability to collaborate with teachers and staff and follow directions.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans and instructional activities.
• Provide one-on-one or small group support to students to ensure understanding and engagement.
• Monitor student progress and behavior and provide feedback to teachers and parents.
• Help maintain a safe and organized classroom environment.
• Support students with special needs, including physical, emotional, or learning challenges.
• Assist with classroom management and discipline to promote inclusivity.
• Prepare instructional materials and resources as directed by the teacher.
• Participate in professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and staff to develop and implement IEPs for students.
• Perform clerical tasks such as grading papers and maintaining student records.
