Job summary

VITAS Healthcare in Florida is seeking a Chaplain to join our interdisciplinary team, focusing on the spiritual needs of patients, families, caregivers and staff. The chaplain will provide pastoral care interventions, including counseling, as guided by spiritual assessment and sensitivity to diverse values and beliefs.

Qualified candidates should have ordination or commission, endorsement and good standing with their faith body, plus CPE credits (1 unit or more).

Qualifications

Ordination or Commission to function in a ministry of pastoral care.
Five years of pastoral experience preferred - two in a clinical setting.
1 unit (400 hours), preferably two or more, of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) accredited by a recognized body.
Equivalencies to CPE may include AAMFT, AAPC, or AMHC certification; or DMin or other accredited graduate degree.
Knowledge of spiritual dynamics of illness, loss and death; ability to function in an interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

Provide pastoral care interventions and pastoral counseling based on spiritual assessment.
Address the spiritual needs of patients, families, caregivers and staff including volunteers.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to deliver holistic patient care.
Demonstrate authentic demeanor, compassion, and skill in dealing with illness, loss and death.
