Job summary

Mercy Lorain Hospital is seeking a Care Companion to provide basic health care and support under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or other healthcare professional. You will assist with patient care, monitor vital signs, and help with feeding and grooming in a compassionate, patient-centered environment.

The role requires teamwork, strong communication, and the ability to adapt in a fast-changing setting. A BLS certification is preferred, and prior healthcare experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• BLS certification preferred; must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care
• Recent healthcare experience is preferred but not required
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills required

Responsibilities

• Provides care and comfort, personal care and hygiene, toileting and mobility support
• Creates a safe environment for patients
• Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns
• Delivers high-level customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff
• Participates in hand-off/report of pertinent information upon arrival and departure
