Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Care Companion for Lourdes Hospital to provide basic health care support under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or designated healthcare professional. Responsibilities include sanitizing rooms, monitoring health and vital signs, and assisting patients with basic needs such as feeding and grooming.

The role emphasizes compassionate patient interaction, safe care, and teamwork with nurses and other staff in a faith-based, patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is preferred from American Heart Association; must obtain from an approved source prior to direct patient care.
• Recent experience in a healthcare environment is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provides care and comfort to patients, personal care, hygiene, toileting and mobility.
• Creates a safe environment for patients.
• Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns.
• Delivers high-level customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff.
• Participates in hand-off/report of pertinent information on arrival and departure.
