Job summary

Preferred Family Healthcare is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician in the Winfield, Kansas area to support clinical staff and deliver compassionate care to children and adolescents across inpatient, partial hospitalization, residential, and outpatient settings.

You will assist with patient care, conduct therapeutic activities, document accurately, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to implement treatment plans while prioritizing safety and continuity of care.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patients, attend to immediate needs, assist with daily living tasks, de-escalate crises, and notify nursing staff of changes in condition.
• Plan and lead recreational and therapeutic activities to support symptom reduction and skill-building.
• Maintain clean, orderly living spaces and promote prosocial behaviors.
• Accurately document observations and interventions in health records.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and other professionals.
• Support implementation of individualized treatment plans and discharge planning.
