Job summary

Acadia Healthcare in Springfield, MO is seeking compassionate Behavioral Health Assistants to support patients on their recovery journey within our behavioral health facility.

You will work under clinical or nursing leadership, perform personal care tasks, monitor safety, document care, and assist with activities of daily living. This role emphasizes empathy, teamwork and a commitment to patient safety in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Six months or more experience with the specific population preferred.
• CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire).

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate a sense of urgency related to patient safety and provide excellent customer services.
• Ensure the well-being of patients and provide a positive, supportive and structured environment.
• Conduct safety checks and ensure supervision at 15 minute intervals or as needed.
• Document timely, accurate clinical information in the patient’s medical record.
• Assist in providing a safe, secure and comfortable environment for patients, significant others and staff.
• Interact with patients, observe behaviors and communicate significant observations to nursing staff.
• May assist with activities of daily living and document vital signs, height and weight.
• Facilitate educational-rehabilitative groups covering social skills, coping skills, anger management and independent living skills.
• Engage patients in activities to achieve treatment goals.
• Complete and maintain required documentation; assist with follow-up and incidents.
• May coordinate transportation for patients as needed.
