Job summary

Humane Society of Huron Valley is seeking an Intake Technician to support animal intake, lost and found procedures, and return-to-owner outcomes. The role uses PetPoint for records, and requires weekend availability. You will also handle licensing where applicable and may participate in humane euthanasia as needed.

Responsibilities include vaccines administration, data entry, and collaborating with shelter staff to ensure compassionate, efficient service for the public and animals.

Qualifications

• Compassionate and caring with excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a high stress, fast-paced environment.
• Must become euthanasia certified and be trained in proper animal handling.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform intakes of animals professionally and according to SOPs.
• Provide courteous, compassionate service and offer alternatives when needed.
• Obtain expert knowledge of PetPoint through on-the-job training.
• Examine incoming animals, vaccinate, draw blood, and document observations.
• Trace or contact owners and perform Return to Owner outcomes and licensing.
• Move and shelter animals safely and humanely.
• Manage Lost and Found Animal Reports.
• Maintain thorough records in PetPoint.
• Respond to inquiries by phone and by email with shelter policy guidance.
• Coordinate with Foster Coordinator for kittens in foster care.
