Job summary

The Humane Society of Huron Valley in Ann Arbor, MI is seeking an Intake Supervisor to assist the Intake Manager in directing daily staff and ensuring high standards of animal care.

You will help coordinate animal flow through the shelter, supervise intake technicians, and uphold HSHV SOPs while delivering compassionate service to the public and animals alike.

This role requires resilience in a high-demand environment and a commitment to staff training, safety, and teamwork across departments.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of supervisory experience in an animal welfare setting.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Must become certified in animal euthanasia.
• Ability to stay calm under stress and manage emotions.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for Intake staff when Manager is offsite.
• Lead daily shelter duties to ensure animal care and clean facilities.
• Coordinate movement of animals with other teams.
• Facilitate intakes and assist in decisions for out-of-county cases.
• Train and motivate staff, uphold SOPs and strong customer service.
• Monitor staffing levels and maintain intake records accuracy.
• Write incident reports and escalate concerns to Intake Manager.
• Learn and work as a Love Train Technician as needed.
