Job summary

The Humane Society of Huron Valley seeks an Intake Technician to coordinate animal intake, manage lost and found cases, and perform Return to Owner outcomes and licensing as appropriate. Extensive use of PetPoint for record keeping and customer support in person and by phone is required.

Must be available to work weekends. Responsibilities include vaccines, admissions, animal handling, housing, and humane euthanasia when necessary; training in proper handling and euthanasia is provided.

Qualifications

• Must have compassionate, patient customer service and calmness in stressful situations.
• Excellent communication and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced shelter environment.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and handle animals safely.

Responsibilities

• Perform animal intakes professionally and sensitively.
• Provide courteous, compassionate service to customers.
• Learn and use PetPoint for record-keeping.
• Administer vaccines, draw blood, and assist with medications as needed.
• Perform Return to Owner outcomes and licensing as appropriate.
• Handle and move animals safely within the shelter and maintain housing.
• Manage Lost and Found reports and shelter records.
• Be euthanasia certified and perform humane euthanasia when necessary.
