Job summary

The Connecticut Humane Society is seeking a full-time Animal Care/Adoption Technician to provide daily care of animals, assist customers with adoptions, and educate visitors about pet ownership. The role requires weekend availability and basic animal-handling knowledge.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in customer service or shelter environment preferred; weekend work required.
• Basic knowledge of animal handling and care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, kennel cleaning, and dog walking.
• Assist customers with adoptions and surrenders and educate them on pet ownership responsibilities.
• Greet visitors, answer calls, and provide shelter information.
• Enter information in PetPoint and maintain animal records.
• Assist with intake, evaluation, and treatment; participate in off-site events.
• Perform animal bathing and basic grooming.
• Work weekends as required.
