Job summary

VITAS Healthcare in Kansas City seeks an experienced Home Care Registered Nurse (RN) to ensure hospice patients are comfortable and to build compassionate connections in patients' homes.

You’ll carry autonomy at the bedside, work with an interdisciplinary team weekly, and educate families on the palliative focus of hospice while delivering dignity at end of life.

A valid RN license and at least two years in hospice, home health, or community health are required.

Qualifications

• Currently licensed to practice nursing in the state where the VITAS program is located.
• A minimum of two years of nursing experience in hospice, home health, or community health in the last five years.
• Equivalent experience or licensure may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate end-of-life care and comfort to hospice patients in their homes.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, visiting the office weekly to coordinate holistic support.
• Make care decisions at the bedside with autonomy to ensure timely relief and comfort.
• Educate patients and families on the palliative nature of hospice and the benefits of comfort-focused care.
