Job description

Position Summary

The Compactor Repair Technician is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, repairs, reconstruction, installation, and modifications to all types of waste and recycling industry compactors and balers equipment.

Pay Range: $30 to # Hourly (based on Experience)

Key Responsibilities

• Performs inspections, diagnostic tests, preventative maintenance, and repairs on various types of compactors, balers, and other stationary equipment.
• Reads and understands electrical schematics for control systems.
• Diagnoses and repairs electrical problems on hydraulic and electrical components (110/120 VAC – 480 VAC) on compactors and balers, including working with high-voltage electricity.
• Maintains knowledge of proper installation of compactors and other stationary equipment, and performs or assists with installations within scheduled deadlines.
• Performs welding and fabrication work on equipment when needed for repairs.
• Completes paperwork and data entry related to equipment repairs accurately and timely.
• Maintains a clean and safe work area in compliance with Casella and OSHA standards, following safety procedures and wearing PPE as required.
• Participates in training and learning opportunities to expand knowledge of the company, products, sales, and services, and performs other duties to support company goals and values.

Education, Experience & Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, a class B or C CDL license, a clean driver’s license, and previous experience with waste and recycling compaction equipment, including components such as pumps, valves, cylinders, couplers, hydraulic controls, and schematics.

Good listening, communication, and problem-solving skills, a commitment to safety, strong electrical diagnostic skills related to hydraulic and electrical systems, and excellent welding and fabrication skills are required.
