Job description

Position Summary

The Compactor Repair Technician is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, repairs, reconstruction, installation, and modifications to all types of waste and recycling industry compactors and balers equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform inspections, conduct diagnostic tests, preventative maintenance, and repairs on various types of compactors, balers, and other stationary equipment.
  2. Read and understand electrical schematics for control systems.
  3. Diagnose and repair electrical problems on hydraulic and electrical components (110/120 VAC – 480 VAC) on various types of compactors and balers, including working with high-voltage electricity.
  4. Maintain knowledge of proper installation of compactors and other stationary equipment and perform or assist with installations within relevant deadlines.
  5. Perform welding and fabrication work on equipment when needed for repairs.
  6. Complete paperwork and data entry related to repairs accurately and timely.
  7. Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with Casella and OSHA standards, following safety procedures and wearing PPE as required.
  8. Participate in training and learning opportunities to expand knowledge of the company, products, sales, and services, and perform other duties to support company goals and values.
Education, Experience & Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, a class B or C CDL license, a clean driver’s license, previous experience with waste and recycling compaction equipment, and familiarity with components such as pumps, valves, cylinders, couplers, hydraulic controls, and schematics.

Good listening, communication, and problem-solving skills, a commitment to safety, strong electrical diagnostic skills, and excellent welding and fabrication abilities are required.
