Primary Purpose: To guarantee the success of all students by providing specific and focused academic assistance to at-risk students, individual students or small groups of students working on individually prescribed learner objectives.

Major Responsibilities and Duties

• Provide assistance to teachers and to students that have been identified as at-risk.
• Provides direct instruction to at-risk students identified as eligible for math, reading, and writing services in individual, and/or small group settings.
• Uses identified needs to guide the learning process toward at-risk student achievement of district’s content standards.
• Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects using formal and informal assessment data obtained from students.
• Assist in maintaining at-risk working files on students; monitors student progress and provides input on student performance.
• Uses a variety of manipulative and hands-on activities to support content standards and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
• Creates a learning environment and research-based program of study that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of behavior and procedure, and maintains order in a fair and just manner.
• Collaborates, as needed, with appropriate district/campus personnel regarding students who may need specialized interventions.
• Other duties as assigned.
