Job summary

Regional Transportation District (RTD) is seeking a FRA Certified Railroad Conductor to support Commuter Rail operations. This safety‑sensitive role requires passing the FRA Drug & Alcohol policy, obtaining a DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate, and earning the required license under 49 CFR Part 242.

You will assist the Locomotive Engineer, perform safety checks, provide passenger announcements, and coordinate with engineers and dispatchers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Must obtain Certified Locomotive Conductor license under 49 CFR Part 242.
• DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate required; National Registry number.
• Ability to work unusual hours, split shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Ensure passenger and crew safety and security; provide excellent customer service.
• Assist the Locomotive Engineer with FRA pre-inspections and reporting.
• Operate switches and wayside equipment per RTDC rules; coordinate with other departments.
• Provide announcements and passenger information; respond to questions as needed.
• Coordinate daily activities with Railroad Engineers and Dispatchers.
