Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least twenty-one years of age.
  • Two-month training program to obtain Certified Locomotive Engineer and Conductor licenses under 49 CFR Part 240/242.
  • Must pass a DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate for a minimum of a two year qualifying period.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Prior railroad operating experience preferred.
  • FRA regulations require clean motor vehicle driving record and no drug/alcohol violations within past 36 months.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CRV safely and efficiently per RTDC rules and regulations.
  • Provide customer service to passengers and ensure trains run on time.
  • Report unusual occurrences to the N Line Dispatcher and follow safety procedures.
  • Perform visual inspections, tests, and paperwork; document equipment defects.
  • Wear required uniform and protective equipment; maintain professional composure under stress.
