Job summary

All Aboard America! is seeking a Lead Bus Detailer to join our commuter operations team. You will review schedules, ensure vehicles are prepared and maintained, and coordinate with Commuter Operations to meet customer expectations and safety standards.

The role emphasizes active communication with drivers and passengers, inspecting vehicles, and supporting daily operations to keep our fleet running smoothly.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-year experience commercial driving.
  • Valid Class C California driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Review route assignments and schedules with Commuter Operations, and ensure all information is fully understood before departing.
  • Receive and confirm daily and weekly schedules.
  • Check that company vehicles are clean, orderly, and well maintained before departing and coordinate any special requests with Commuter Operations.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and add fluids as required.
  • Safely negotiate routes through varied terrain and geographic areas.
  • Use trip sheets, maps, itineraries, signs, and other documentation to complete trips to customer specifications.
  • Interact with clients, customers, sub-contracted drivers, and fellow drivers professionally.
  • Assist passengers in boarding and exiting the vehicle and load luggage as needed.
  • Respond to driver-monitoring communications and coordinate with Commuter Operations.

What you will do as a Commuter Minivan Operator:
  • Review route assignments and schedules with Commuter Operations, and ensure all information is fully understood before departing
  • Receive and confirm daily and weekly schedules
  • Check that company vehicles are clean, orderly, and well maintained before departing and coordinate any special requests with Commuter Operations
  • Perform all pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspection tasks, and add fluids as required
  • Safely negotiate various routes through varied terrain and geographic areas
  • Utilize trip sheets, maps, itineraries, signs, and any other necessary supporting documentation to complete trip to customer’s specifications and expectations
  • Interact with clients, customers, sub-contracted drivers, and fellow company drivers onsite in a courteous, friendly, and professional manner
  • Assisting passengers in boarding and exiting the vehicle, and bicycle and luggage loading and unloading from rack, storage bays, or overhead compartments
  • Respond to commuter operations driver-monitoring communications such as: 1hr checkin, actual start, mid-route check-in, spot check-in, and actual finish
  • Communicate with Commuter Operations using tools including, but not limited to, two-way radio in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) for the purpose of gathering and/or conveying information
  • Document required activities on a variety of manual and/or electronic documents such as:
    • Work Order, Driver’s Log, Daily Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR), Bus Check Out, Daily Time Record, etc.
  • Comply with all applicable government regulations, policies, and standards as well as all company administrative policies, procedures, and safety rules in all activities
  • Proactively communicate with Commuter Operations and customer any service issues (e.g., late pickups, late departures), and ensure other incidents are relayed to appropriate parties
  • Relay customer requested itinerary/route changes with Commuter Operations or Business Development & Guest Services to expedite approval
  • Ensure the following documents are accurate and complete before submitting:
    • Driver logs are accurate and submitted daily
    • DVIRs are complete and signed off when maintenance issues are addressed
    • Bus check out sheets are noted for new damage with proper investigation ensuing
    • Work Order complete with all times, mileages, passenger counts, and signatures
    • Daily Time Record complete with all necessary and accurate information, signatures, etc.
  • Inspect vehicle for items left behind and coordinate immediate return to customer when possible, or submit to Commuter Operations
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness, order, and dump the sewage waste collection receptacle as needed when away from the home terminal
  • Provide operational feedback to Commuter Operations to help improve service response
  • Perform duties and functions to help streamline the daily business operations of the Company
  • Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing additional tasks and assignments as needed
What does it take to be a Lead Bus Detailer?
  • Minimum 1-year experience commercial driving
  • Valid Class C California driver’s license.
