DEPARTMENT: Exceptional Adventures

POSITION: Bus Driver

STATUS: Casual

SCHEDULE: Casual - To meet the needs of Exceptional Adventures experiences and excursions.

Exceptional Adventures, a subsidiary of Partners For Quality Inc., is a non-profit organization with more than 40 years of experience. We provide vacation opportunities, social events and monthly dances for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our recreational and travel programs are designed to support guests in a wide variety of activities. Organized trips include motor coach, flight, train and cruise packages which are offered year-round.

Responsibilities

Responsible to the Director of Exceptional Adventures for the safe, reliable, and efficient transportation of guests and staff to their destination. Trips can be a day, an overnight or multi-day trip. All responsibilities shall be completed in a manner consistent with the Vision, Mission and Values of Partners For Quality, Inc.

  • Transporting groups of people with intellectual, developmental and autism, volunteers and staff on vacations, by operating the Exceptional Adventures bus to destinations while following all traffic laws in a safe manner.
  • Assist guests and volunteers board and exit the bus.
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of luggage and all travel supplies.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the bus is in safe operating condition, no items have been left on the bus, and the bus is clean and sanitary. Report any mechanical issues immediately.
  • Enforce passenger safety regulations, including proper seating, seat belts, and proper use of wheelchair tie downs.
  • Provide friendly, professional interaction with guests and staff.
  • Manage emergency situations calmly and effectively, following established procedures.
  • Attentiveness to road conditions and passenger activity at all times.
  • Willing to travel and be gone overnight for some vacations.
  • While driving on overnight vacations must be available to drive at any time in the event of an emergency.

Qualifications
  • Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL), preferred
  • Passenger and/or school bus endorsement, preferred
  • Clean driving record.
  • Previous professional driving experience preferred
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle unexpected situations
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Physical ability to sit for extended periods and assist passengers as needed
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule as needed

Minimum Compensation

USD $22.00/Hr.
