Job summary

Mount Rogers Community Services Board seeks a Wellness Specialist to advance behavioral health initiatives across the service area. You will implement proven prevention frameworks, collaborate with diverse stakeholders, and support strategic planning to address needs.

The role includes recruiting and training facilitators, evaluating program impact, and coordinating with youth, families, and agencies to strengthen protective factors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent job-related experience in a related field.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of callers and agency.
• Experience with prevention initiatives and community assessments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the Strategic Prevention Framework to implement evidence-based programs, practices, and strategies to address behavioral health needs.
• Implement community-based and environmental strategies to influence community conditions, standards, institutions, systems, and policies.
• Assist in developing a service area strategic plan that is data-driven to address identified problems.
• Recruit, train, and foster facilitators for prevention programs; conduct evaluations to document implementation, fidelity, and effectiveness; make recommendations for modifications.
• Mobilize with youth, parents, community leaders, and other agencies to increase protective factors and decrease risk factors.
• Facilitate meetings with community members and partners; serve on coalitions to foster relationships.
• Collaborate with federal, state, and local partners to develop referral resources and increase participation in initiatives.
• Receive at least 20 hours of prevention-specific training per fiscal year.
