Job summary

InCommunity seeks a Direct Support Professional to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in community-based settings. You will promote engagement, support personal goals, and help with daily living activities in a respectful, safety-conscious manner.

Responsibilities include accompanying to appointments, promoting health and well-being, and maintaining a clean, safe home environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• At least six months of experience in developmental disabilities, mental health, or aging services preferred.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and meet driving standards, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Interact with individuals respectfully and with awareness of verbal and nonverbal communication.
• Encourage participation in home and community activities reflecting interests and choices.
• Assist individuals in identifying and pursuing ISPs and personal goals.
• Teach activities of daily living (ADLs) such as cooking, cleaning, and personal hygiene.
• Support safety, meal preparation, and cleanliness in the home setting.
• Accompany individuals to medical appointments and assist with transportation as needed.
