Job description

WORK SCHEDULE: 4-day workweek, Monday - Thursday (7am-6pm) with some weekend special events

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: The purpose of positions in this classification is to plan, develop, implement, and oversee a wide range of community services, recreation programs, and special events. This Community Services Coordinator position will be responsible for the development and ongoing supervision of Civic Center operations, programming for older adults, contract classes, and other community programs and events.

Essential Functions:

The following duties are typical for this position. These are not exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

  1. Develop community knowledge and build partnerships that benefit youth and at-risk youth through various programs.
  2. Plan, organize, and implement programs that promote healthy living, cultural unity, and community identity.
  3. Provide advisory support and serve as a liaison to committees, community organizations, and schools involved in human service programs.
  4. Assist in developing and implementing program budgets and allocate resources prudently to achieve program goals.
  5. Create public relations materials and develop strategic media alliances to market programs and promote the benefits of human service programs to the community.
  6. Collaborate with community organizations and agencies to build coalitions that enhance human service programs for Stanton.
  7. Prepare and deliver verbal and written reports to government agencies and community groups.
  8. Respond to and resolve citizen inquiries and complaints effectively.
  9. Administer instructor/provider contracts, develop program budgets, and monitor for compliance and appropriate expenditures.
  10. Maintain and update records, including participant registration information.
  11. Utilize a computer to perform related job tasks.

Qualifications:

Experience/Training/Education:

Any combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical pathway includes:

  • At least three years of experience in managing human service programs and supervising community recreation activities.
  • Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with coursework in recreation, public administration, education, health, human services, or related fields.
