Job summary

The Sun Prairie Area School District is seeking a part-time Community Schools Instructor (non-certified) to oversee an after-school program and support children’s development. This role requires providing care, planning activities, and communicating with families within an inclusive environment.

Starting wage is $22.50 per hour with duties spanning supervision, activity setup, safety, and documentation. Part-time, after-school hours, located in district facilities, with opportunities for growth

Qualifications

  • Must be able to take direction and work cooperatively.
  • Must supervise a group of children while attending to the immediate needs of one child.
  • Must nurture children and implement age-appropriate activities.
  • Has prior experience working with youth.
  • Able to resolve challenging situations productively and without personalization.
  • Pays attention to detail and is able to multitask.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Has a valid driver's license or access to reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Follow the direction of the site coordinator's management with regard to policies and procedures.
  • Lead, participates in, and is responsible for program activities at the assigned site. This includes preparing materials for the activities, setting up the space, cleaning up afterwards, etc.
  • Ensure that site appearance, cleanliness, and safe environment are maintained.
  • Maintain confidentiality for families, students, and staff at all times.
  • Maintain effective communication with the program leader and/or site coordinator. Must complete all paperwork including daily notes, accident and incident reports, and daily attendance records.
  • Meet with families, youth, and community members; address concerns in a respectful, sensitive manner.
  • Respect cultural diversity and create an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment.
  • Ensure the safety and wellness of youth by upholding policies through the program's procedures.
  • Participate in professional development and program related training as assigned.
  • Show professionalism in all aspects of the position: timeliness, punctuality, attitude, attention to detail, integrity, and ability to positively interact with all our employees and stakeholders.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Job description

Starting wage: $22.50 per hour

This positions is part time after school, 2.5 hours per day.

SUMMARY

Under general supervision and in accordance with District policies, procedures, and guidelines, the Site Instructor supervises an assigned group of children. The Site Instructor will help to provide the necessary physical and emotional care while carrying out developmental activities. The employee will help develop goals for the children, evaluate each child's progress, and is responsible for communicating with families.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES, AND SKILLS
  • Has prior experience in after school and expanded learning programs, either in a school or a community based setting.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, lift, and carry 20 pounds of materials.
  • Work in both indoor and outdoor environments, sometimes in adverse weather situations.
