Job summary

The Northeast Bronx YMCA is seeking a Community School Director to implement the community school strategy at P.S. 111, ensuring alignment with the school day curriculum, health and safety standards, and funder expectations.

You will hire and supervise staff, collaborate with the principal, build broad community partnerships, and coordinate services for students and families, while maintaining thorough documentation and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education or related field is required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of two years of experience managing high-volume youth programming and supervising staff.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with Access, Adobe PageMaker and Photoshop preferred.

Responsibilities

• Implement a menu of needs-driven, high-quality programs and services in adherence with the community school model, including expanded learning and enrichment opportunities, mental health services, parent/family engagement, adult education, and interventions for chronically absent students.
• Develop and grow community partnerships while creating and tracking a resource referral system for youth and families.
• Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of participants by following Risk Management and safety procedures.
• Align programming with the principal's vision and school day curriculum to the fullest extent possible.
• Hire, train, and supervise full-time and part-time staff and volunteers; monitor performance and provide coaching.
• Promote an inclusive, welcoming environment that embraces diversity and promotes school spirit.
• Coordinate planning of community school activities and use of branch facilities for program activities and events.
• Represent the initiative in public forums; participate in advocacy for community schools and the YMCA.
• Participate in School Safety Team and Attendance Team meetings and lead Community School Leadership Team discussions.
• Develop orientation sessions for families in collaboration with the school; communicate safety rules and procedures.
• Maintain accurate program documentation (attendance, forms, reports) and approve payroll hours in ADP.
• Manage and track volunteer hours and evaluate program effectiveness.
• Support data collection, timely reporting, and responses to information requests.
• Understand and communicate the school's mission, YMCA core values, and Community School goals to staff, participants, and caregivers.
• Ensure communications reflect the school-YMCA partnership.
