Job summary

Phipps Neighborhoods in collaboration with the New York City Department of Education is leading the creation of community schools in the Bronx. The Community School model brings together partners to support students and families with a governance framework built on collaboration and shared accountability.

The Community School Director will work with school leadership and local organizations to align resources, supervise staff, and plan community engagement activities aimed at improving student

Qualifications

• Bachelors or better in Education and related fields, with community focus.
• Experience leading school-community partnerships and organizing services.
• Strong writing, speaking, interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to collaborate with diverse staff, students and families.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Community School model and implement components with the school principal.
• Develop and coordinate community partnerships with local organizations and service providers.
• Supervise Community School Staff and interns and ensure consistent service delivery.
• Facilitate needs assessments and plan engagement with partners at the school.
• Communicate with students, parents and school staff to connect services inside and outside the school.
• Observe and evaluate staff performance and provide professional development.
• Participate in data collection and use data for program improvement.
• Plan Town Halls and partnership meetings, including evenings and weekends.
