Job summary

Counseling In Schools (CIS) invites applications for a Community School Director at a Flatlands/Canarsie area high school in Brooklyn. You will lead partnerships, supervise staff, steward data and budgets, and align programming with school priorities to elevate the whole child.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years in education or nonprofit leadership, with strong relationship-building and budget management skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in education, youth development, community schools, nonprofit leadership, school operations, or a related field.
• Experience managing budgets.
• Experience supervising staff and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with school leaders, educators, families, community partners, and external stakeholders.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Excel/Sheets, Canva, and presentation development tools.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary liaison between CIS, the NYCPS Office of Community Schools, and the school community.
• Create meaningful opportunities for family involvement through workshops, orientations, celebrations, volunteer opportunities, and community events.
• Oversee daily operations of the school's emergency resource systems, including the Food Pantry and clothing closet.
• Support school-wide operations related to attendance initiatives, chronic absenteeism reduction, student engagement, school culture, and wellness programming.
• Lead planning and implementation of school-wide projects, events, and partnerships while managing follow-up on action items, timelines, and stakeholder communication.
• Supervise and support on-site CIS staff and oversee program budgets and reporting.
