Job summary

SOME (So Others Might Eat) seeks a Public Safety Officer to provide safe, welcoming environments across our DC facilities. The role involves monitoring areas, responding to safety concerns, and supporting security procedures to protect staff, clients, and residents.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of public safety experience, HS diploma or GED, and a valid driver’s license with CPR/First-Aid training. Experience serving homeless or underserved populations is preferred; compensation is hourly

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED; 3-5yrs. Public Safety experience; experience providing services to the homeless and/or underserved populations.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred; 3-5 yrs. Public Safety experience; experience serving homeless/underserved populations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure SOME Inc. facilities are safe and clients, guests, and residents are in a secure environment.
• Provide conflict mitigation and de-escalation using CPI/ Handle with Care or related training.
• Develop and file incident reports/SIR for medical, police, and special circumstances.
• Contact police when conflict escalates or violence is exhibited.
• Monitor security cameras and building perimeters; maintain daily security logs.
• Enforce rules consistently for all clients, guests, and residents.
