Job summary

SOME (So Others Might Eat) in Washington, DC, is seeking a dedicated Monitor to support the Kuehner House housing facility. You will help ensure resident safety, perform shifts as scheduled, and respond to daily needs while complying with program policies.

The role requires 1–3 years in social services for seniors, CPR/First Aid and DC Food Handlers Certification, with a focus on compassionate, professional resident care and safe operation of housing services.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of experience in social services and experience providing services to seniors.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee house operations and respond to client issues at night or during the day based on schedule
  • Conduct regular house walk-throughs and submit shift logs at the end of each shift
  • Perform drug tests, as needed
  • Respond to emergencies and contact management as needed; develop serious incident reports when needed
  • Monitor and document client medications
  • Assist in meal preparation
  • Enforce the policies of the program

Our more than 30 programs throughout the district provide comprehensive services that lead to mental and physical health, continued sobriety, job training, living‑wage employment, and affordable housing. We meet immediate needs with food, clothing, and healthcare, and offer the tools one needs to live with hope, dignity, and greater independence.
Compensation

We offer our employees a competitive compensation and benefits package that reflects our organizational culture, mission, and core values. The hourly range for this position is $18.40 to $19.49 and is commensurate with experience.

Monitor

Will provide monitoring and security for the housing facility and residents during the day or overnight based on schedule.

Location

The position is located at Kuehner House on Good Hope Road in SE Washington, DC. Kuehner House is an affordable housing program designed specifically for the elderly, including emergency housing for abused and neglected elderly and a community day center.

Schedule

Week 1: Friday 6 pm - 10 pm, Saturday & Sunday 2 pm - 8 pm, Monday-Thursday 6 pm - 10 pm (16 hours per week)

Week 2: Off

Required

1-3 years of experience in social services and experience providing services to seniors.

Required License/Certification

CPR/First Aid; DC Food Handlers Certification

Expected Contributions

Program Manager

Position Designation

This position is designated as Safety Sensitive. You may be subject to drug testing before or during your employment with SOME. In this position, you may be disqualified from employment based on the presence of marijuana in test results, even if you possess a medical card authorizing the use of medical marijuana.

Physical Demands

Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds. May be required to sit or stand for long periods. Must be able to move around all levels/floors of the building.
