Job summary

SOME (So Others Might Eat) in Washington, DC is seeking a Public Safety Officer to provide safety support across facilities and maintain a welcoming environment for staff, clients, and visitors.

The role requires a HS diploma or GED with 3–5 years of public safety experience and a valid driver’s license, CPR/First-Aid, and a vehicle. Schedule is 40 hours weekly, with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED; 3-5yrs. Public Safety experience; experience providing services to the homeless and/or underserved populations
• Bachelor's Degree preferred; 3-5 yrs. Public Safety experience; working with homeless/underserved populations
• Must have a vehicle and valid Driver's License; CPR/First-Aid

Responsibilities

• Ensure SOME Inc. facilities are safe and clients, guests, and residents are in a secure, safe environment.
• Provide conflict mitigation and de-escalation for conflicts using CPI/ Handle with Care or related training.
• Develop and file incident reports/SIR for medical, police, and special circumstances.
• Contact police when conflict escalates or violence is exhibited by client, guest, or residents.
• Monitor security cameras and the perimeter of the buildings; maintain daily security log.
• Enforce rules consistently for all clients, guests, and residents.
