Job summary

Felton Institute is seeking a Community Response Specialist to respond to low-level calls and crisis situations citywide, without police or EMS, around the clock. The role includes on-site crisis assessments, de-escalation, and connecting residents to mental health, housing, and employment services.

Under supervision of the AQCRT Program Director, you will liaise with community partners, conduct outreach, and facilitate rapid linkages to providers.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; Associate's degree preferred.
  • Minimum one year of experience with transition-age youth and/or adults with substance use, homelessness, or related challenges.
  • Ability to engage with a diverse, high-need community.
  • Ability to work on a multi-disciplinary team and with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Valid California driver's license, insurance, and ability to travel (preferred).
  • Experience with individuals or groups affected by violence, poverty, racism, or mental illness.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct community outreach and engagement for residents in need, including those not housed or housing-insecure.
  • Maintain documentation of program activities and track related data.
  • Provide linkage to mental health, substance use treatment, and employment services.
  • Assist residents in accessing transportation resources and completing service plans.
  • Perform intake interviews and make referrals to community agencies as appropriate.
  • Establish positive relationships with residents, stakeholders, and providers.
  • Support on-site crisis response and de-escalation as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
