Job summary

City of Olympia is seeking a Crisis Response Specialist to provide access to emergency mental health and substance use treatment services. This role reduces calls to law enforcement and builds links to community resources while serving the downtown Olympia area.

You will engage with individuals facing houselessness, intoxication, or mental illness, transport them when needed, and work closely with the crisis response team and supervisors to ensure timely, professional support.

Qualifications

• Four years’ experience in the delivery of social services.
• A bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
• Any combination of related experience and education may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide non-judgmental, unconditional support to community members.
• Assess for immediate safety and stabilization needs.
• Engage with intoxicated individuals and transport to social services.
• Engage with individuals with mental illness to treatment facilities.
• Transport to shelters, treatment centers, or other social services as needed.
• Complete required documentation within established timeframes.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with team members.
• Track and compile program data.
