Job summary

The New York City Department of Homeless Services is seeking four (4) Community Coordinators to serve as Resource Specialists for shelter and housing initiatives. You will cultivate relationships across diverse communities and support staff with information about housing opportunities beyond shelter.

Responsibilities include conducting outreach interviews, reviewing housing history, and coordinating with landlords and service providers to connect clients to stable housing options.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree with two years of experience in community work or related duties.
• High school diploma with six years of related experience.
• Equivalent combination of education/experience with at least one year as described in item 1.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate relationships across diverse communities to provide housing opportunities beyond shelter and inform staff.
• Conduct outreach interviews and screenings for housing alternatives with tenants, landlords and other partners.
• Engage with the community to provide referrals and educate about housing options and resources.
